December Mural Update
Some interested parties met in early December to discuss a process for completing a mural at Lincoln-Eliot. The following notes reflect this discussion.
- Mike Finnegan, of Plowshares, will be the artist for the mural.
- The mural will not be located at the front of the Jackson Road entrance, as we do not have adequate funding for this location at this time.
- The location of the mural will be decided by the committee. It will be inside the school in a space that we feel could use some attention.
- Lincoln-Eliot students who are in Plowshares will be offered the opportunity to participate in the creation of the mural.
- Mural work will not happen during the Lincoln-Eliot school day.
- Families will be surveyed to determine the content/topic of the mural.
- When the survey results are compiled, Mike Finnegan will propose a depiction and style at a PTO meeting (probably in February or March).
- Funds for the materials will be supplied by Plowshares.
- In addition to the aforementioned mural, Mike will work with Elaine Purcell and other interested parents to design and paint some colorful fruits, vegetables and healthy food to be mounted in the cafeteria. Elaine Purcell will work with parent volunteers in order to make it possible for students who are not in Plowshares to participate in this artistic adventure as an afterschool activity.
- We are interested in pursuing the idea of a mural on the front of the Jackson Road entrance at a later date, when funding for such a large scale project can be secured.
