Family Art Night – Volunteers Needed

Our amazing art teacher, Mrs. Sutherland, is hoping to put together a Family Art Night this spring and she needs your help to do it!

She’s seeking a few parent volunteers to help her bring this vision to life. Mrs. Sutherland would like to prepare a few art projects for students to show their parents and for parents to engage in!

The commitment would include a couple of short Zoom meetings with Mrs. Sutherland to decide upon which projects to choose, prepping materials, and help with setting up.

PTO Update – December 12, 2022

Hello families!

Book Fair Week is here!  Hooray!  We hope you get a chance to stop by the Lincoln-Eliot library to visit our book fair — we’ll be open for shopping from 8-8:30am and for an hour after school Monday through Thursday this week.  We’re also gathering wish lists from the kids all week — you’ll see a copy coming home and we’ll have a copy of each list available in the library as well!

And of course we’ll be in full swing on Thursday night for our Books and Cookies Pajama Party!  Join us from 5-8pm for free cookies and cocoa, crafts and scavenger hunts, pizza for sale, and a chance to celebrate reading with your Lincoln-Eliot friends.  You can also buy books for your teachers’ classroom libraries from their wish lists and do some holiday shopping!

We’ll also be having a parent/principal coffee on Wednesday morning, 8-8:40am in the library and would love to see you there.  And don’t forget Wednesday is Dress Like a Book Character Day!  If you need ideas, check out https://tinyurl.com/LECharacterDay for inspiration!

Thank you so so much to everyone who has signed up to volunteer and everyone who came to help on Friday — we appreciate you very much!  There’s still time to sign up if you want to come help during your child’s library time or if you can bring cookies or do a shift during the Thursday night event.  Sign up to volunteer here!:  https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c094caaae2ca4f4c43-2022

Finally, if you don’t have a chance to make it into the book fair, you can still support the school by shopping online until Dec. 23.  Find our online fair and more information at https://bookfairs.scholastic.com/bf/lincolneliot

Email Tui or Jenny anytime with questions!  Thank you all for supporting our school and celebrating books with us!

Room Connectors Still Needed!

We are so close to having at least one Room Connector volunteer for each classroom.  Please consider volunteering if you have not already done so in the past.  Help make your classroom’s teachers feel appreciated!  You will also feel good that you are participating in the school and helping make our community more united!

The main role is to be a connector between teacher(s) and families, especially in appreciation around winter holidays and end of year.  Without a Room Connector, your teacher(s) may miss the opportunity to be recognized in the same way due to the district gifting policy.  The gift policy discourages families from giving individual gifts to teachers, which makes a Room Connector a vital link to present gifts on behalf of all the classroom families.

No Room Connector Yet:
4 Levin
4 Monopoli
5 Hunter
5 DeNoble/Evans

Email Emily Núñez at nunezemily77@gmail.com with your full name, your child’s full name, and your classroom teacher to sign up or get more info.

Thank you!

Room Connectors Still Needed!

We really need volunteers for Room Connectors!  If you have never been a Room Connector before, please sign up this year.  It is a small commitment, but is very important to making sure that our teachers feel appreciated and supported.  Many schools have 2-3 Room Connectors per class.  We aim to have 2 per class so that you can work together.  If you are a 4th or 5th grade family, it would be really great to see new volunteers!

Room Connector Role:

  • gather a contact list for families in your room and encourage people to sign up for the school directory (ASAP)
  • collect voluntary classroom funds for holiday class gifts and end of year gifts (November and May/June)
  • be the point person if your teacher needs something (communication, project, supplies, etc.)
  • share information from PTO (a ready to go email or flyer from Room Connector Coordinator) with your class contact list

No Room Connectors Yet:
1 Ward
2 Rooney, 2 McDonald
4 Levin, 4 Monopoli
5 Hunter, 5 Foster, 5 DeNoble/Evans

Need 1 More Room Connector:
1 Warren
2 Gayle
3 Gueye
3 Penczar

All Set!
K Jang, K Kremer, K Lam
1 Malavase
3 Crist
4 Goode

Email Emily Núñez at nunezemily77@gmail.com with your full name, your child’s full name, and your classroom teacher to sign up or get more info.

Thank you!

Room Connectors Still Needed

Looking for a fun and easy way to get involved in the Lincoln-Eliot Community?  Become a Room Connector!  We need 1-2 Room Connectors for each classroom, and so far only the kindergarten classrooms have volunteers (hooray for our new K parents!  We just need one more for Ms. Jang’s room!).

Room Connector Role:

  • gather a contact list for families in your room and encourage people to sign up for the school directory (PTO board will help assist)
  • collect voluntary classroom funds for holiday class gift and end of year gift
  • be the point person if your teacher needs something — communication, project, etc.
  • share information from PTO (a ready to go email or flyer from Parent Connector Coordinator) with your class contact list

If you would like to be a Room Connector, please email nunezemily77@gmail.com.  We hope to have two Room Connectors per classroom.  It is first come, first served, so don’t wait to email!

In your email, please include:

  1. Your full name
  2. Your child’s full name
  3. Child’s grade level
  4. Child’s classroom teacher

Your child and his/her teacher will be so appreciative!

Thanks!

Get To Know Our School Library!

Have you had a chance to visit the Lincoln-Eliot library or meet our wonderful librarian, Kim Selwyn?  Are you interested in supporting this invaluable space and helping out in a small meaningful way?

We are looking for library volunteers to help shelve the books that are constantly going in and out of the school library.  The more we can help, the more books our kids can take home to read!  It’s an easy, hands-on way to make a difference, whether you can stop by for half an hour once a month or an hour a week — the time commitment is up to you.

To find out more and learn how shelving works, you are invited to attend a volunteer orientation on Monday, October 17th, at 8:20am (after drop-off), in the school library.

Or if you can’t make it then but are interested in volunteering, please email Tui at secretary@lepto.org!
